What is a CRN Evaluation?
In Bucks County, the local Bucks County District Justice will refer you for an initial alcohol evaluation called a CRN (Court Reporting Network) evaluation. You must schedule your CRN evaluation within 72 hours of your Bucks County Preliminary Hearing. While your evaluation does not have to be completed in 72 hours, you must make an appointment by telephone in that time frame. There is a fee of $75 associated with this process. The following three organizations are approved Bucks County providers of CRN evaluations:
The Council of Southeast Pennsylvania Incorporated
4459 W. Swamp Road,
Doylestown, PA 18902
(215) 230-8715
Family Service Association
4 Cornerstone Dr.
Langhorne, PA 19047
(215) 494-9090
Livengrin Foundation DUI Program

Drug and Other Alcohol Assessment (AOD Assessment)
In addition to your CRN, you will also be required to complete an Alcohol and other Drug Assessment. You will also need to complete this assessment if you are applying for Restrictive Probation for a DUI. This assessment focuses on your alcohol and/or drug use. It also delves into your medical, emotional and mental history, family life, education, employment, and criminal background. Treatment is likely to be recommended as a result. The cost of this assessment is $140, and this is in addition to your CRN fee.
CRN evaluation results are transmitted to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office and will become part of your sentence in your DUI case. If a CRN counselor determines that you need additional alcohol or drug counseling/treatment, the sentencing judge at Common Pleas Court in Doylestown will order you to complete the recommended treatment or rehabilitation. Saile & Saile LLP can prepare you for your Bucks County CRN evaluation and AOD Assessment so that you will have the best chance to achieve positive results in your Bucks County DUI case.
